I’ve been slow to post my latest columns for the Daily Hampshire Gazette, so here’s a slug of them. Unsurprisingly, they all center on a similar theme – the way our world is heating, burning, every day hotter to the touch and to the thought.
- It’s burning in real ways, like my article on the tragic fire that incinerated the Brazilian National Museum and most of its 20 million treasures in September.
- It’s burning in metaphorical ways, like in my article on the ocean alongside us, where increasing temperatures globally are causing serious consequences for marine life, and our growing population is straining the bounds of what the sea can provide.
- And we have options to turn down the heat, but solutions sometimes prompt controversial tradeoffs, as I note in my contemplation of whether we should cut down trees to install solar panels.
While I’m posting, don’t forget to vote on November 6.
