Naila Moreira is a writer and naturalist living in western Massachusetts. Her work has taken her to the coasts, forests and grasslands of New England, the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, Brazil, and beyond.
Her debut children’s novel, The Monarchs Of Winghaven, will launch May 14, 2024 from Walker Books US. Her second poetry chapbook, Water Street, won the New England Poetry Club Jean Pedrick Prize.
A former writer in residence at the Shoals Marine Laboratory and Forbes Library, Naila teaches at Smith College. She holds a Ph.D. in geosciences from the University of Michigan and has worked as a full-time journalist, environmental consultant, and Seattle Aquarium docent.
